Derda spent 14 years as associate publisher at Penton Media, where he managed the sales and marketing activities for Paper, Film and Foil Converter magazine, including print, online, and custom media solutions for packaging and printing manufacturers.
He was also group publisher at The Aberdeen Group for five years, where he was responsible for four construction business-to-business magazines, Concrete Construction, Concrete Repair Digest, Concrete Journal, and Masonry Construction, increasing sales by more than 50 percent.
Derda worked for 14 years at Vance Publishing, where he was Publisher of Modern Jeweler, increasing advertising revenues by 150 percent during his tenure. The magazine won numerous awards and was considered the most decorated publication in the American business press.
He has been a frequent speaker at publishing industry events for many years.
